Chatoyancy

Chatoyancy

Exhibiting both adularescence and chatoyancy, these cat's eye moonstones are doubly phenomenal! Adularescence is the billowy sheen that moonstone is known for. Chatoyancy is the cat's-eye effect that is caused by needle-like inclusions within a gem. When light reflects off these needles, it forms a narrow, bright line, similar to what happens when light reflects off a spool of silk thread.

Moonstone with white or blue adularescence is typically the most popular, but this tray of golden brown moonstones reminds us of fall and the autumn moon!
